After Cataract

The original cataract that was removed never grows back, but the lens capsule that holds the intraocular lens (IOL) implant can become hazy. If this is affecting your vision, your eye doctor may recommend a simple laser procedure called a YAG capsulotomy. The is a short, painless, in-office procedure that takes only a few minutes.

Pterygium

A pterygium is an abnormal growth on the surface of the eye. It is not cancer or pre-cancerous, but it can threaten your vision. If your eye doctor is concerned about your vision being threatened, it may be recommended to have the pterygium surgically removed.
Glaucoma
Glaucoma is a common eye disease that causes progressive damage to the retinal cells and optic nerve. It takes the peripheral vision first and patients rarely notice any symptoms until glaucoma damage is severe. This is an important reason to have your eyes examined periodically.
Some risk factors for glaucoma:

• High intraocular pressure
• Older age
• Close family history of glaucoma (parents or siblings)

We are able to do all necessary glaucoma testing to diagnose and care for patients with glaucoma. A full glaucoma evaluation involves:

• Intraocular pressure testing

• Dilated eye exam

• Corneal thickness measurements

• Formal visual field testing

• Gonioscopy (a special lens to examine the eye)

• Optical coherence tomography (OCT) of the optic nerve

We offer a wide of glaucoma treatment options, including medical management (eye drops), laser treatment, and surgery.
