Carol Boren, M.D.

Dr. Boren was born and raised in Albuquerque, NM, and graduated from Colorado State University with a degree in Human Nutrition and Dietetics.  After graduating from University of New Mexico School of Medicine she moved to Dallas, Texas, for internship and Ophthalmology residency at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center.   She and Dr. Rance Boren moved to Brownwood and opened their private practice in 1999.

Practice

Dr. Boren practices comprehensive ophthalmology, treating patients of all ages.  In addition to performing surgery for eye conditions like cataract, glaucoma, pterygium and eyelid abnormalities, she also enjoys management of medical eye diseases like glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, and dry eye. 

Dr. Boren obtained her certification from the American Board of Ophthalmology in 2000 and has participated in all aspects of maintaining her certification, receiving her ten-year re-certification in 2010. She is a Diplomat of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, a member of the Texas Medical Association and the Texas Ophthalmological Association.  She has served as a member and Chairman of the Board at Brownwood Regional Medical Center.  In 2012 she was honored to be named the Professional of the Year by the Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce.

Interests

Dr. Boren and her husband are blessed with a daughter and a son.  When not keeping up with her children, Dr. Boren enjoys running, gardening, and serving on the board for the Brownwood Area Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
